# Kindergarten gifts: check the work behind personal books

Personal books can make thoughtful kindergarten gifts: every child becomes the hero of a story. When choosing a gift for a class or school, the cover, story and price matter. So does the work needed to prepare a different copy for every child. Before placing an order, find out who handles each step.

Making one book for your own child can be fun. Making 20 or 50 books with details and photos from different families is an organizing task. If the committee receives every photo in a separate message and creates every book by hand, a lovely gift can add hours of work.

This guide gives parent committees practical questions to ask before ordering.

## Kindergarten gifts have a time cost too

The price per book is only part of the decision. Someone also needs to explain what parents should send, store files, match photos to names, check details and follow up on missing information.

For illustration only, suppose each book needs five minutes of manual work. That is 100 minutes for 20 books and 250 minutes for 50 books: four hours and ten minutes. This is an example calculation, not a measured preparation time for LumeBook or another supplier. It excludes messages, replacement photos and corrections.

When parents reply across several days, the work also interrupts work and family time. Ask how many actions you must repeat for each child, as well as how much each book costs. A low unit price does not tell you how much organizing the order needs.

## Who collects the photos from parents?

Ask to see the parent's upload process before you place the order.

- **Who uploads the photo?** Does each parent use a shared link, or does the committee receive and upload every file?
- **How are photos matched to children?** Are the name and details saved with the photo, or must someone match them later?
- **What happens when a photo is missing or unsuitable?** Who asks for a replacement and updates it?
- **How do you see progress?** Is there one list of submitted and missing details?
- **How are reminders sent?** Are they automatic, sent manually through a tool, or entirely the committee's task?

A form can help collect information. Ask what happens after a parent presses submit. Does that information go directly into the book order, or must someone copy it into another system? The answer makes a real difference across a whole class.

## What is automatic, and what needs your approval?

“Automatic” can mean different things. A supplier might generate illustrations automatically while leaving photo collection, individual book setup and file transfers to the organizer. Walk through the whole process, from gathering details to receiving the books.

Ask who handles each stage: parent submissions, checking names and quantities, starting book creation, reviewing the result, approving print and arranging delivery. For each stage, ask what happens if information is missing or a correction is needed.

Committee checks have a useful purpose. You want correct names and a book for every child. A group system can remove repeated data entry and file handling while leaving choices and approvals with the organizer. Check who approves finished books and whether printing waits for that approval.

Ask the supplier to explain three examples: a parent who submits everything on time, one who has not sent a photo and a child whose name needs changing. If the next action and the responsible person are clear in each case, the order is easier to plan.

## Five checks before ordering for a class

1. **Age and story.** Read the story and check its language and theme. For children finishing kindergarten, see our [guide to the move into first grade](https://lumebook.com/IL/en/blog/2025-06-01).
2. **One current list.** Agree who manages the order, how the number of children is checked and how two children with the same name are handled.
3. **Separate deadlines.** Ask about photo submission, corrections and when production and delivery time begins. Leave room before the celebration.
4. **A clear total.** Check what is included, optional extras and delivery for the whole group. Do not estimate it from a single-book offer.
5. **A correction process.** Find out whom to contact, how a saved change is confirmed and when changes stop being possible.

## How LumeBook group orders work in Israel

Choose the quantity and a book for the group. After payment is confirmed, you receive a link to share with parents. Each parent enters their child's details and uploads a photo directly. Submissions are collected in the order dashboard.

The organizer still has work and approval steps. They check and approve the children's details, start book creation, then review and approve the finished results. A printed order also needs final approval for print. You do not need to set up each book separately from the beginning, but you still allow time for decisions, tracking and checks.

Missing photos or incorrect details still need attention. This does not promise that every parent responds immediately or that every correction happens by itself. The benefit is direct parent uploads and one organized place to manage the order.

See the current [personal books for kindergartens and schools in Israel](https://lumebook.com/IL/en/kindergarten), prices and ordering steps. Before committing, ask about any step that is unclear. A good class gift combines a story children will enjoy with a process the committee can manage.

## FAQ

### What should we check before ordering a personal book for every child?

Check the book and the work involved: photo collection, missing details, progress tracking and final approval. Ask to see the actual process before ordering.

### Why is ordering 20 or 50 books different from making one?

Every manual action repeats for another child and family. A few minutes per book can add up to hours, with messages and corrections spread across days.

### Does an automatic system mean the committee has no work?

No. Check which steps are automatic and which need a choice, review or approval. LumeBook supports direct parent uploads, while the organizer still checks details, starts creation and approves the result and printing.

### Must the committee collect every photo itself with LumeBook?

The group process provides a link for parents to enter details and upload directly. The organizer tracks submissions in the dashboard. Missing or incorrect information still needs attention.
