LumeBook: How It All Started

Sometimes, life's greatest opportunities are born from our most personal moments. The story of LumeBook began in my home, with my son, Ariel.
Ariel is a wonderful and curious child, but when he had to face new situations, like extracurricular activities, he would shut down and struggle. Meeting new people became a real challenge for him. As someone who has worked in technology for years and has been exposed to the world of AI, I started thinking about how I could help him in my own way.
The solution was to create a story where he was the hero. Using artificial intelligence, I created his first personalized story about a child who tries out different activities and makes new friends. The book was naturally filled with images of him in various activities, and the idea was simple: instead of imagining, Ariel could see with his own eyes how he copes and succeeds.
When Ariel saw the book, his eyes lit up. It was a magical moment. Every night before bedtime, this was the only story he wanted to hear. It wasn't just a story – it was his tool for imagining himself succeeding.
Meanwhile, his little brother Neve started showing interest. Neve was right at the stage of separating from his security blanket, and I decided to seize the opportunity. I created a personalized book for him that helped him imagine himself weaned from his blanket. The result was amazing: within just a few days, Neve said goodbye to his blanket with almost no struggle.
The impact of these stories wasn't limited to our home. I saw how Ariel's story changed his self-confidence. He started talking about activities with enthusiasm and asked to join them.
I began researching and discovered that such stories, called "social stories," are a recognized technique for children with autism. They help children imagine social situations and prepare for them. But thanks to AI technology, we took this one step further: not just imagining, but actually seeing yourself succeed with your own eyes.
The reactions from family and friends were heartwarming. Everyone wanted personalized books for their own children. When I saw the enthusiasm and the impact, I realized that maybe there was something big here. Maybe LumeBook could help tons of children overcome personal challenges, just like it helped Ariel and Neve.
That's how LumeBook was born – a platform that combines technology, imagination, and love to help children cope with fears and challenges and become the heroes of their own personal story.
